Lubrication: an important and underestimated issue for couples.
1. How to choose the right lubricant for your couple?
The first question to ask when choosing the right lubricant before applying torque is:
What “final tension” of torque should be applied to all bolts ?
Why?
Because even if you’ve rented a reliable, calibrated tool, and you know what torque force you’re applying (e.g. 400 lbs/ft), if your stud or nut is dry, there will always be an element of friction. So, in the torque relationship as in the tightening torque, lubrication reduces friction… and above all, allows us to control it! So you can control the final tension of your entire industrial bolting job.

LUBRICANT TRANSFORMS TORSION INTO TENSION!
Do you use a lubricant when tightening? Is this the right type of lubricant?
Here’s how to find out.
Here’s what you need to know about lubrication. The more tension in the bolt, the greater the closing force. Over time, the bolt will lose some of its tension, so the greater the initial tension, the greater the residual closing force.
In other words, the bolt acts like a spring, which is why it must be tightened in the right way. By using the right tightening method, the right tools and the right lubricant, the bolt will remain effective, even over the years.
