Torque rental: questions to ask
1. You rent a torque to do what (which application)?
The first question to ask before renting torque is: Where will the torque be applied?
Bolting can be done on a truck wheel, a flange in a refinery, a valve, a beam on a bridge, a steel structure, a Caterpillar front strut, a lamp post bolt, a shovel bearing, etc.
But make sure you have the right tool for the right application!
So, before making your torque rental, we’ll always ask you what application you need the tool for. That way, we’ll make sure you have the best torque tool for the job. https://www.youtube.com/embed/RbBYN-J5Hz4 |
2. What do you want to bolt?
In the same vein, here’s what you need to know before renting a torque tool (Controlled tightening tool) ,
- Number of bolts to be tightened
- Bolt size
- Nut size,
(know the size of the nut to know how much socket it takes to tighten it) - The grade of the nut (optional)
3. What torque (tension) should be applied?
Tension, elongation or load value (residual tension force in the bolt)
Bolt grade? which helps validate the torque value to be applied
(often the reference is given by the manufacturer, an old crumpled note in your former colleague Jean-Paul’s drawer).
Lubrication used? (It’s like in love, IT’S MUCH EASIER LUBRICATED)
For example, by changing the type of lubricant used, the force required for the same load (tension in the bolt) can be reduced, and a smaller, lighter tool can be used for a better result.
Safer and lighter for the user, and better suited to the application.
If you are unsure of the torque value, we can also confirm engineering calculations for your specific bolting application.
there aren’t many engineers who specialize in controlled clamping, but we have the most experienced ones at Hytorc to support us.
4. Dans quel environnement on doit faire le boulonnage?
- In torque, for every action there is a reaction, and this reaction is critical. For each application, we must ensure that the tool’s reaction is optimal. This means that if it’s true for a single nut…. IMAGINE for an entire job.
- the aim is safety and efficiency, with uniform tension on all the bolted elements of your application.
- A PICTURE: That’s why a picture is worth a thousand words (send me a picture of where you work), small or large reaction arm, restricted area
- Technical specifications: if you have it, so much the better – we’re sure that everything conforms to the specifications.
5. Turnkey torque rental in 3 easy steps
When you rent a Hytorc tool: Training is included: we don’t leave you on your own: we show you how it works: either by video, or we show it to you in person when it’s the operator, or we go on site to supervise.
There are 3 possible levels of support
- Supervision and start of work
- Supervision throughout the works
- We do it all for you!
